A kimbridge Barn wedding with nye & Melody
Nye & Melody’s wedding at Kimbridge Barn in Romsey, Hampshire, was a joyful and heartfelt celebration, blending rustic English charm with meaningful Chinese traditions. It was my first time photographing at this stunning Hampshire barn wedding venue, and I’m already looking forward to returning.
I was honoured to be recommended to Nye & Melody by one of their wedding guests – someone I met while photographing another wedding. It’s always a huge compliment when my work connects me to new couples through word of mouth, and I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier pair to spend the day with. I also included a Super 8 wedding film for this couple, filmed on a camera from the 70’s. Nye’s grandmother also had Super 8 at her wedding, so it was a perfect addition to their wedding day.

Set in the heart of the Test Valley countryside, Kimbridge Barn is a beautifully restored venue that offers a relaxed and elegant atmosphere for a barn wedding. Surrounded by meadows, riverside walks, and peaceful rural views, it’s a dream spot for couples looking for a laid-back, nature-filled backdrop to their big day. The interiors are a perfect mix of rustic and modern, with exposed beams, warm brickwork, and soft, natural light that makes every moment feel intimate and timeless.
From a photographer’s perspective, it’s a joy to shoot at – with its versatile indoor spaces and gorgeous outdoor areas offering a variety of beautiful backdrops for portraits and candid storytelling throughout the day.
A Fusion of Cultures – The Chinese Tea Ceremony
One of the most touching parts of the day was the traditional Chinese tea ceremony held just before the wedding breakfast. This ancient ritual is a symbol of respect and gratitude to the couple’s families and was such a meaningful addition to the wedding.
Nye & Melody wore traditional attire during the ceremony and served tea to their parents and elders, who offered blessings, kind words, and symbolic gifts in return. It was a beautiful, emotional moment that brought generations together and reflected the couple’s love and respect for their heritage.
Relaxed Celebrations in the Garden courtyard
Throughout the day, Kimbridge Barn provided the perfect setting for everything from the emotional ceremony to the laughter-filled speeches and a packed dance floor in the evening. The couple’s friends and family were warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was full of genuine love and celebration.
Nye & Melody were a joy to photograph – natural, relaxed, and so clearly in love. Whether we were capturing quiet moments under the trees or big smiles during the confetti toss, they made everything feel effortless.
