Alice & Martin’s New Barn Farm Wedding on the Isle of Wight

Being an Isle of Wight wedding photographer has always been a personal dream of mine. I’ve had a lifelong connection with the Island – from childhood day trips with my parents, teenage adventures with friends, to now visiting with my own family. So, when Alice & Martin asked me to photograph their wedding at New Barn Farm in Calbourne, I was genuinely honoured.

I first met Alice and Martin many years ago at her brother Jonathan’s wedding to Heather, which I photographed at The Arthouse Gallery in Southampton. It was lovely to reconnect with their family again – and even more meaningful knowing that Martin is also a professional photographer. In fact, one of the images in this gallery – the stunning landscape of Alice against the cliff face – was taken by him.

The day began in Cowes at Alice’s parents’ home, before a heartfelt ceremony at St Mary’s Church in West Cowes. After the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception at New Barn Farm, while I took Alice and Martin to Compton Bay – a spot they both love – for some portraits against the dramatic coastal backdrop.

Back at the farm, the celebrations continued with heartfelt speeches, outdoor games, and live music from none other than Plastic Mermaids – old school friends of the couple, who travelled across the country fresh from festival gigs to perform as the wedding band. Definitely check them out on Spotify – they’re fantastic. In fact, Rhian on backing vocals went on to form another great band you may have heard of called Wet Leg.

If you’re planning a wedding on the Island and are looking for a relaxed, creative Isle of Wight wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you.
